Why Therapy
Your Guide to New Health
There are many reasons someone may seek out therapy and it is possible that the presenting problems may or may not be the real issues.
Once an assessment is complete, the therapist provides feedback, usually with a working diagnosis. The length of treatment varies on symptom severity, identified problems, and treatment modality.
Getting into treatment means taking a risk to discover something about yourself, your family, and your life choices and that can bring both comfort and anguish.
You must be ready to confront your emotions (anger, guilt, sadness, frustration, disappointment, etc.) as you begin to look at your issues. At times, symptoms may worsen before they get better.
Therapy is both a time, emotional, and financial commitment. If you are able to find a good match with a therapist who can understand and help you work through issues, the result can be extremely positive. The goal is to alleviate presenting symptoms (such as anxiety and depression) and learn tools in order to achieve a more balanced life!
